MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 24, 2017) – Axalta’s brilliant paint schemes are one of the high points of the season for JR Nation, and today, the latest installment from Hendrick Motorsports’ longtime partner made its debut.

Dubbed ‘Flash Point,’ the new scheme is just as vivid as last year’s edition, blending the iconic red and yellow hues in a different, just-as-racy way. The lightning-like strobes on the sides add to the overall look and give it that “flash.” The hood and front fenders are mostly yellow, except at the bottom, and as the paint flows toward the rear the yellow transitions into the red that was such a big part of the 2016 scheme for the Axalta No. 88 Chevrolet.

Designed by legendary motorsports artist Sam Bass, the design for 2017 really caught Earnhardt Jr.’s eye.

“I’m really excited about this,” the 14-time NASCAR Most Popular Driver said in the video unveiling earlier today. “This might be my favorite car of all time that I’ve driven. It’s an amazing-looking car and it’s going to look awesome on the track. TJ (spotter TJ Majors) is not going to have a problem seeing it!”

Earnhardt Jr. will be in “Flash Point” for 12 races in 2017, beginning at Phoenix International Raceway in March. Auto Club Speedway in California is up next, followed by the spring races at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and Texas Motor Speedway. The annual NASCAR All-Star Race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway is up next, followed by races at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway, Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International, the second race at Michigan International Speedway, the annual night race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, the regular-season finale at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway, the fall race at Chicagoland Speedway and the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida.
