MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 9, 2017) – Dale Earnhardt Jr. has big plans outside of racing cars in 2018. Today, DIY Network announced Earnhardt Jr. will be trading in his helmet for a hardhat as part of a new home-renovation series.
DIY Network, a cable channel in more than 57 million homes nationwide, has given the go-ahead for a new home renovation series featuring the third-generation NASCAR star and his wife, Amy Earnhardt. The series will follow Dale and Amy as they transform a dilapidated historic home into a gorgeous modern retreat in the Old Town historic district of Key West, Fla. The show, which is set for four half-hour episodes, will premiere in 2018.
Amy Earnhardt, who graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in interior design and worked as a designer for the renowned architectural firm of Wakefield Beasley & Associates in Dallas, will head up the design part of the show, while Dale Jr. will oversee the renovation work.
“Amy and I are excited to take on our first home renovation project together,” said Dale Jr. “Amy is a fantastic designer. She has creative ideas and a strong work ethic. We love DIY projects around the house, and so I expect this to be challenging but fun.”
John Feld, SVP of original programming and production at HGTV, DIY and Great American Country, is eager to see the finished product, both on the screen and on the street.
“We’ve seen how Dale Jr. races a car, so we’re confident that with Amy’s help he will easily navigate the typical trials and tribulations of a home renovation,” said Feld. “Fasten your seat belts because this one is sure to be a thrilling, unpredictable ride.”
Details on the show’s air dates will be released at later date.
