MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 13, 2016) – Axalta Racing unveiled its special paint scheme for the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet to be driven by Dale Earnhardt Jr. in the Pure Michigan 400 race in August at Michigan International Speedway, and it will be in the maize-and-blue colors of the University of Michigan. The unveiling was done at Axalta’s manufacturing plant in Mt. Clemens, Mich. as part of the celebration for being named General Motors Supplier of the Year for the second year in a row.

Axalta, a leading global company focused solely on coatings and providing customers with innovative, colorful, beautiful and sustainable solutions, recently entered into a multi-faceted partnership to support engineering and business students, coatings research and other projects.

It is the third year for the special Axalta scheme, and the first that will race on the two-mile oval at MIS. Last year, Jeff Gordon raced in Penn State’s blue and white at Pocono, and the red and white of Texas A&M at Texas Motor Speedway in 2014.
