MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 6, 2017) – The No. 88 Nationwide Chevrolet Camaro paint scheme for 2018 was revealed Thursday night at Hendrick Motorsports, and there are some new elements in it.
The first, obviously, is the graphic atop the driver’s side door. It reads “Alex Bowman,” not “Dale Earnhardt Jr.” From there, the differences are stark. The SS decal on the front and rear panels has given way to the Camaro for 2018.
The “RPM bar” motif of this year’s car, a design element favored by Earnhardt Jr., is gone as well.
This year’s car is mostly Nationwide blue, from the center nose all the way back to the deck lid, with white running from the front fenders down the side skirts and halfway up the rear fenders. The signature turned metallic No. 88 in shadow is gone, replaced by a black No. 88 with white trim, and the forward slant of the number this season is angled this year to the rear.
Nationwide decals adorn the hood and decklid, as they do this year. It marks a new and befitting paint scheme to continue the legacy of Nationwide and the No. 88 car.
